OUR GUIDE

With distinguished expert guest Mike Covell - Hull historian, prolific author, paranormal expert and the man behind ‘Amazing Hull Tours’ with a penchant for the dark and mysterious.

THE VENUE

Arrive from 7pm at Ye Olde White Harte, steeped in spooky ookie vibes. Past the inglenook fireplaces and human skull, up the oak panelled staircase and in the room right next to Ye Plotting Parlour you’re invited to read with us.

Local myth claims the civil war was started here with the plotting of the first blow for parliament in 1642 and least two residents have suffered fatal accidents in the pub and it is reputed to be "one of Hull's most haunted". Internal timbers of the building still show evidence of fire damage dating to 1883 and the landlord’s daughter unfortunately perished when her clothes caught fire as she was lighting the fireplace in the main bar.

Please note - Because this is a grade II listed building, I’m afraid it may not be accessible for everyone particularly as our meeting is up the staircase built circa 1550.

Also worth noting - The tour is a walking tour covering parts of the city centre so you will need to be limbered up, wrapped up and warm/dry enough and we will all travel as a group so don’t worry if you need a little extra time moving about.

DRESS CODE

Fancy dress, costumes, capes, hats, ceremonial robes, wooden masks created by Loki - the Norse god of mischief, are all encouraged as dress code if you so desired.
